What is Ayurveda??

An ancient Indian healing system dating back approximately 5000 years “Ayur” meaning life & “Veda”meaning knowledge or science Ayurveda translates as the “science of life”

With a stronger focus on healing and prevention rather than treatment, Ayurveda is considered to be the sister science or medical arm of Yoga.

Honoring the 5 elements Ether, Air, Fire, Water & Earth,

Ayurveda uses diet, herbs, bodywork, energy work, self care, yoga, meditation, mantra and our environment to maintain or restore balance in our bodies and minds.

We all have a unique elemental constitution that we are born with known as our “Prakruti”.

This constitution considers a balance of 3 “Doshas”  Which are energetic forces  from the 5 elements that govern the functions of our body & mind.

The Doshas are

Vata - Air & Ether

Pitta - Fire & Water

Kapha Water & Earth

Keeping oneself as close to this original balanced state is a primary focus of Ayurveda.

Diet, seasons, environment, relationships, habits, impressions and daily routines all have the ability to either disrupt or encourage this balance.

As we get to know ourselves and understand natures rhythms and the effects of our surroundings we gather the tools and rituals we need to keep ourselves in harmony both physically and mentally.

We walk in the footsteps of Wadawurrung men, women & children, elders proud and strong.  We acknowledge the land is our body, the water is our blood. We tread lightly on this land, together as one.
