A day mirrors an entire lifetime. What if we took this approach to our daily life. Awakening is being born, sleeping is to pass over, to dream is to journey the astral realm before being born again.

The daily transition from sleep to waking or between dream and deep sleep closely mirrors the longer movement of our souls from one life to another.

The waking is our physical reality, this life we live in this body in this physical realm. This is the connection of our daily life to our entire lifetime. This wakened state relates to the Earth in yogic thought.

Dream state relates to our movements in the astral, the realm of subtle form, thought and energy. This is sometimes called the atmospheric realm or realm of the Moon in yogic thought.

Deep sleep relates to our journey through the formless, the causal realms of seed energy and light. This relates to Heaven, the realm of space or the Sun in yogic teachings (Prashna Upanishad).

Just one day lived in awareness of this concept or indeed any other aware state would surely be different to one with no thought at all.

Even in the smallest moments these mirrors of rebirth take place, the blink of an eye, a breath with inhale and exhale. These moments of tension and release are well worth noticing and can become quite profound. You can use these moments of transformation or tension and release in whatever way you choose. Just as mastering these moments can re-frame your next movement, Mastery of the wake-sleep cycle surely has the power to reframe your whole approach to living.
